Overview
Retkatha (“we”, “us”) operates this website and sells handmade leather diaries from our workshop in Udaipur, Rajasthan. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
If you have questions, contact us at retkatha@gmail.com.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly and data generated when you use our site or complete a purchase.
- Contact details — name, email, phone, and shipping or billing address when you order or create an account.
- Order details — products, embossing text, payment status, and delivery information processed through Shopify checkout.
- Account data — if you sign in on our site, we store a customer access token in your browser to show order history; we do not store your password on our servers.
- Messages — anything you send us by email or through forms.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, and pages visited, collected by our host and analytics tools where enabled.
How we use your information
We use personal information to run the shop and fulfil orders, including:
- Processing and delivering orders, including personalised embossing.
- Sending order confirmations, shipping updates, and replies to your enquiries.
- Maintaining your account and order history on this website.
- Improving our products, website, and in-shop experience.
- Complying with legal, tax, and accounting obligations in India and applicable export markets.
Shopify & payment processing
Checkout, payments, and much of our order data are handled by Shopify. When you pay, your card and billing details are processed by Shopify and its payment partners — not stored on our own servers.
Shopify’s privacy practices are described in Shopify’s privacy policy. We receive only the order and customer information needed to make and ship your diary.
How long we keep data
We retain order and account records for as long as needed to fulfil orders, handle warranty or repair requests, and meet legal record-keeping requirements. Marketing preferences are kept until you withdraw consent or ask us to delete them.
Your choices & rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold, subject to legal exceptions (for example, completed orders we must retain for tax purposes).
To exercise these rights, email retkatha@gmail.com from the address associated with your account or order. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
Our site is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised policy.
